Our History

As Creative Director of Intellexa, an Audio Visual and Home Automation company, I found that I was spending more and more time not only designing the technical aspect of home cinemas but also advising clients on their interior schemes and space planning.  From a very young age, I was always fascinated by colour, texture and style so moving into Interior Design was a natural progression for me.

In early 2005, Amy Nicholas Interior Design, an amalgamation of my name and my now husband’s name, was created.  Our ethos from the very beginning has been to offer clients an unprecedented design service with inspirational interiors which are seductive in style and layered with knowledge and originality to create the most perfect and individual of spaces.  We also have a dedicated e-Commerce website, Amy Nicholas Interior Design, which supplies fabric, wallpaper and innovative home pieces to clients throughout the world.

Since 2005 we have gone from strength to strength, introducing distinguished brands such as Zoffany, Designers Guild, Osborne & Little, GP & J Baker, Mulberry Home and Cole & Son to name but a few.

At Amy Nicholas, our prime motivation is to provide innovative yet timeless interiors and we achieve this with our highly skilled and dedicated team of professionals who offer a premium service to our clients.   On the design team is myself, Laura, our Junior Interior Designer and Jessica, our Textile Designer.

2013 will see some wonderful challenges for us here at Amy Nicholas with the introduction of our new website and the exciting collaboration with renowned wildlife artist, John Clarke.  The much anticipated partnership will see the release of a range of limited edition pieces for the home along with the launch of some of the most tantalising fabrics and wallpapers on the market.

I also write a monthly interiors column in the LIVE magazines which offers premium lifestyle publications throughout the North of England.

In my spare time I am a wife to Nick and mother to 6 dogs (including my adorable sausage Sid), 20 chickens, 1 turkey, 2 ducklings and 2 pygmy goats plus any waifs and strays that cross my path!  Nick and I are also expecting our first child together in August this year.

I have a deep rooted passion for Art, both classic and modern, furniture design, architecture, music, reading, fashion, pattern and travel.

In my work I strive for innovation and perfection and I take a lot of my inspiration and aspirations from my favourite designers and artists.  These masters include the exceptional Dutch designer, Marcel Wanders, known to many as the Lady Gaga of the design world, the renowned Ralph Lauren for his exquisite, timeless designs in both fashion and for the home and lastly Picasso for his surrealism with the exploratory use of bold colour and his mythical interpretation of everyday objects.  I carry their inspiration with me and portray it through my interior design.
